We have been looking forward to releasing this episode for years. Betty in Paris has been a film we have been imagining even before Olive Us was conceived. This episode has a couple clear inspirations: One inspiration is the film The Red Balloon. Another is a film idea from Josh Stanley, the Blair’s uncle. His idea was to show his daughter (at the time around Betty’s age) roaming around NYC. He would be there the whole time, but always behind the camera, so it would look like this vulnerable child wandering around New York.
We have wanted to do that kind of film ever since we heard his idea, and thought Betty in Paris could deliver the feelings of vulnerability, and childlike curiosity about a big city. Tiger in a Jar brought their usual genius, and imagination and watched Betty closely to bring out some of her simple, naive responses to some of Paris’s landmarks.
We spent two days filming Betty in Paris, and felt like we could have used three more–such a wondrous city, and Betty’s interactions felt so simple and fun. We hope you love Betty in Paris!

Bonjour from Paris! A friend in Boston just sent me the link for “Betty in Paris” and I loved watching every minute of it! I hope that you don’t mind that I shared it on my blog’s (Out and About in Paris) facebook page so that others can see it as well.

We are big fans of “Amelie” and this episode really captured the charm and magic of Paris. Betty looks adorable in her little blue coat and red socks. Where did you find the coat? So glad we can live vicariously through you and your darling family!
Looking forward to the next episode.

Just stunning! My 3 daughters sat enthralled here in 43 degree heat remembering their holiday in Paris this time last year, all rugged up in coats just like Betty’s. There were extra squeals of delight when she walked out of Laduree! We look forward to the next episode.

This is so awesome. The shots are great! Tiger did a great job. Love their work and this is no exception. How did you get it so there were no crowds?

So glad you like it! Usually there were crowds, like at Notre Dame, but we angled the camera to crop them out. There actually weren't many people on the carousel that evening--it was chilly and past the prime carousel time, I suppose.

So, so sweet. I love Betty’s red hat and knee socks. I have never been to Paris, but I love the wonder through her eyes. Yup, this is a keeper :) (I only just now watched this. I had been saving it for when I had a few minutes to sit and savor it. Too bad I didn’t have a pain au chocolat to go with it!!
