Maude, Olive, and Betty loved making this episode–and the whole crew loved eating the cookies when the filming was done. These cookies are a favorite treat during cold weather–though they are yummy all year round. It always feels like a fun way to celebrate “bad” weather. The recipe we use (and have used for decades) includes the spelling you see. We didn’t want to jinx the tradition, so we’ve kept the spelling. Watch it now!
And we loved the ingredients introduction that Tiger in a Jar came up with. So fun!
Olive snapped this behind the scenes picture–you can see the high-tech mark-ups (i.e. bar code tags) video team used to frame the shot. This was the first inkling any of the crew (outside of Tiger in a Jar) had of the ingredients introduction.

Would you like to make Snoball cookies? Here’s the recipe:
Snoball Cookies
2 cups butter
1 cup powdered sugar
4 1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans
Cream butter and sugar.
Add remaining ingredients.
Roll into small balls. Really small. No bigger than a “biggie” marble.
Bake at 325 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
After cooled, roll in powdered sugar.
Yield: 175-200
Perfect to pop in your mouth. And pop, and pop, and pop. Yummy!

My daughter and I love watching your videos together! You’ve made me want to make Snoballs! I just wanted to add I’ve also made them with chopped hazelnuts and they are delish! Loved the ingredient instruction! Thank you for sharing your family with us!

After watching the episode this morning, my three year old decided we simply had to have a snoball cookie picnic! I quartered the recipe so it wouldn’t overwhelm her, and she had a blast putting the little snowballs on the cookie tray. They turned out perfectly! so yummy!
Thank you for another inspiring movie!

You’ve brought up a delightful memory for me…I too made these delicious cookies with/for my 6 kiddos. We called them Mexican Wedding Cakes and I’ve also heard them go by your name and Russian Tea Cookies. I so enjoy your blog and inspiration. Much thanks. Happy day, msk

Adorable video! I especially love the way your little one looks to her big sis for reassurance when a little spill happens… Sweet girls!
