Here’s what Lisa wrote with her entry:

When I was a small girl my grandmother and I would pick bunny tail grass (I wonder if you call it the same in the States?) and together we would dye the seed heads to create fluffy rainbow bunches. To have my own daughter and the opportunity to share this gentle activity and special memory of my childhood with her has been a parenting highlight for me. My daughter (Meg) and I made this short film to share with others.

We are so excited to announce the winner of the first Make Your Own Olive Us contest! We have been so thrilled with the response to this contest. Seriously, this was an unforgettable experience to watch so many inspiring videos. Thank you for sharing your beautiful experiences with us. We know each video represents a lot of work. We know you will treasure your video forever, and we are so happy that you shared them with us! And we hope this has inspired you to make more!
After reviewing the many entries, the judges have come to their decision. And the winner is: The Sea Shop, by Lacey, Caleb, and Callie Young. Watch it Now!

Here’s what the Youngs said about their entry:

Hi! Here is the video we made for the Olive Us contest. We really enjoy the Olive Us videos… my daughter thinks Oscar is so funny! Her favorite is the lemonade stand. We have been wanting to make a video like this with our daughter for the longest time and this gave us the push to do it! We put a story to it, but what she’s doing in the video is actually what we do on the weekends. Walking to the beach and collecting sea glass is one of our favorite family activities. One funny note about the video… my daughter was very proud of her acting because she doesn’t like ice cream and had to pretend that she did :)

Sea Shop stood out for a number of reasons, from the sound track, to the boots, to the skillful perspectives, smart editing, every little beautiful detail complimented the next surprise. The pacing was spot on, and it didn’t linger too long within one idea. It grabbed me right from the start and kept me hooked the entire time.

It was really well done, with a lot of thought and care put into every aspect, from camera angle, to music, to the happy and light feel of it- and very much like Olive Us. The little girl’s smile alone brought us a lot of smiles. Well done!

[Warning! Spoiler!] Trading sea glass for ice cream? Could this mini movie be any cuter? We absolutely loved watching the ocean adventure.
